Guess the protest just doesn't bother most of us. Haha

I don't know what's the big deal with the mentality of most people (foreigners) regarding the protests.
This shows they don't understand Thai people and never been in Thailand long enough.

This is Thai people's (vested interest individuals) problem not foreigner's business.
Got protests no need to eat, sleep or travel?
Thai economy is hurting due this political unrest so we should come Thailand even more so and spend to help the economy.

Tarmac roads blocked by protestors but pedestrian path ways not blocked right?
Still can walk to Agogo Bars and Soapy Massage Parlours mah.
Singaporeans like to complain only.

By the way I just have to siam motorcycles far far in down South first. :p

Re: Bangkok Field Report

just stay away from the violent areas, thailand's red light district will not be gone forever anytime soon, so its best to wait out the protest.

In 2010 the Red Shirts also had a stage at the junction. When the shit hit the fan they torched Central World, Siam Cinema and a few of them got shot when the army cracked down.

If bros wanna stay along Sukhumvit Line then I would recommend a hotel after Phrom Phong BTS station at Thonglor or Ekkamai areas. Or else change to hotels in Rachada.

Those in between Ploenchit BTS to Asoke BTS I also not really recommend. Coz if got serious rioting like whats happening in Kiev now you are stuck in between.

The Continent Hotel is a new hotel that is along Sukhumvit and just infront of Soi Cowboy.

Simple advice - Stay away from anywhere near Rachaprasong, Asoke (Soi Cowboy) and Chidlom. Stay away from protest areas.

Even have elevated walkway you never know when things will change especially on 2 Feb. Shopping centers like Terminal 21, Central Chidlom, Central World, Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, Siam Square and MBK. Do you really need to go shopping that badly?

Yesterday at Bangna one of the yellow leaders got shot dead. He was leading some southern bann nok to block people from voting. IMHO serves him right. And Suthep can ask why police never protect them? Thai logic we thanchart will never understand.

If die die need to go Nana, if u take BTS alight at Ploenchit or Nana station should be safe but if the shit hits the fan then you will be trapped in between Asoke and Chidlom intersections. Only way out would be to go all the way through Soi Nana to Rama 4 road.

Soi Cowboy only exit is Soi 23 if Asoke have fighting.

Generally daytime should be safer.

Avoid those areas and polling stations on 2 Feb (if elections goes ahead, wait for outcome of YL's meeting with EC tomorrow).

Sound (and sensible) advice from this Bkk vet. Unlike his moniker, he's no snake charmer to wayang you. Stay away from hot spots (well documented in local press).

On tomorrow's pow wow, this elections sun 2/2 (or delayed) is looking like a sham -what with advance votes already logged in, and polling stations blockaded.

I'm in Bangers 5-9/2, but far across CP river in Bangkae. Last new BTS is Bangwa, across Sapan Taksin -shd be far enough. Only downside is 20mins taxi ride to Patpong (off peak hours)

555+ No need to head into town, professor (y)(y), there are 4 kapoo shops right in your neighborhood, along Phekasem (Between 62 and 94):
  • Flower Spa
  • Home Spa
  • Lemon Spa
  • Angel Club @ Bang Khae

Walk as far away from the protesters as possible and stay off the streets.
Siam stationary motorcycles as explosions activate via SIMs. When you buy SIM card it's annoymous.

Refrain from talking politics with Thais.
Mai kao jai can liao. :D
Less talk, more fuck. :p

In Dec, I hit Patong on 2 nights (late hours). Kns, few takers for takeaway as Phekasem is too far (and long) ...had to say Seacon Bangkae to cabbie.

I did skive across my service apartment hotel 14 Resorts (suite only thb1100, standard 600), to Angel Club. It's part of a entertainment complex with MP, catering to locals. But at 10pm, the papasan told me in pasar thai, leftovers liao:p

But thanks to you now, I know other options in the neighborhood
