Traffic is quite chaotic and many buildings need to clear safety inspections.
Many condo residents have to evacuate from their homes and unable to return.

Businesses and puyings will still need to curi makan.

The question now is do you trust the structural integrity of the hotel or apartment you will be staying in? :D

So many reports coming out that such n such buildings are structurally safe...... but the people staying there claim there are crack lines here and there.

Can those reports be trusted ?

Most will stay to try earn more until few days before Songkran as they need to bring money back to hometown.

As to the safety of the buildings..... I just learnt how the Thai system for safety checks works.

All building owners are required to inspect their buildings for structurally damages and then submit the report to the government website. I wonder whether these building owners are qualified to assess the damages and will they submit an honest report. You can check the status of your building in the government website and surprised to see almost all buildings were declared as inspected and safe on it. In actual fact several buildings had cracklines and damages so I doubt the owners were honest in their reporting.

This is really ownself check ownself here...... lol

My condo was required to be inspected by qualified enginneers before we was allowed back in the building. This took 2 days and during that period, lifts were not operatonal so to get belongings to move to a hotel required stairs. Alot of friends condo required engineers to check before they was allowed back in..

My sources tell me there are not enough engineers to inspect all the buildings in BKK.... even with the full mobilization of the Army engineers. That's why the authorities issued the self check orders. Maybe you foreigner get different treatment.

Only the THB in your hands can be trusted.

Our HDB and condos also have crack lines, that's normal. But to trust Thailand authorities on the QC and reliability? The only reliable part of them is they will take money when offered and given a chance to.
