Re: Depression Chit Chat/Support Thread
It's a funny thing, it sorta sits at the back of your mind, you hide it with a smile, and can probably function pretty much as usual. But it's also like a wound that is constantly being rubbed raw or ripped open. Sigh, sometimes I wish that it is as easy as following a 12-step program. I really do. But well...

After listening for some time, i turn the table around and start to let him hear my makeup suicidal stories........ soon after instead of i consoling him, he start to console me. And so he went off. |

Yes, sometimes depression can 'stay dormant' and re-surface when you least expect it. Scary |

Re: Depression Chit Chat/Support Thread
Hi newbie here. Very interesting thread.
Seems like most people when face with depression or stress, will either hit the bottle or go brothel to relief themselves. I know I am going to sound like a preacher. But anyone actually tried putting on a pair of running shoe and go for a run until you feel blood rushing up your lungs, and you can no longer breath if you take another step. The after experience can be very relaxing.. I am happily married, and in my early 50's, still very active down there, but my wife, for medical reason, is no longer active. Hence, doing lot's of sports and outdoors activities with kaki's, and on rare occasion when the wife oblige, the feeling even in our mature are is still heavenly. Hence, I believe quality definitely over rule quantity :) Try it, many of my friends even in their 60's looks way younger then many in their early 40's Really, any sports. Swimming, hiking, running, biking.. paragliding.. Works wonders.. |

Re: Depression Chit Chat/Support Thread
I have gone through depression and anxiety. If you have read my past post in my threads, I have divorced from my first wife as she ran away with my money leaving me with no savings. I had to start from scratch and I'm talking about almost a million in savings.
I lost my 2nd wife from cancer. Our marriage was not long. Just into our 1st year, one day while we were in NZ, she collapsed and was warded. She had an aggressive brain cancer and there was no cure. I said my goodbyes to her as she passed on while I hold onto her hand. I will be honest and say I was thinking of ending my life many times. Especially when I lost my 2nd wife. No amount of money I have can bring me happiness. I could have sex with lots of women or drink myself silly till I passed out. But in the end, it won't bring me any happiness. As what bro rusteddude did, I went running for my life and ran till I can't stop breathing. I went to seek counselling. It's something that I thought won't work but it does. Having a 3rd party or another person listen to you really help. So please everyone, don't treat depression as something small. It can end your life. |
Re: Depression Chit Chat/Support Thread
People think their life is terrible until they realise that there are others who have gone through far worse.
I have a kiwi friend who is on his forth wife. His first wife and the love of his life died of cancer. His second wife took him to the cleaners and he lost his house. His third wife committed suicide. He is now in his forth. Never seen him depressed but the inner turmoil is often not visible. Quote:

Does feeling stuck in middle-class count as depression?
