I've had meals at both Nathong and Somboon @ Ratchada. Personal opinion, but I think both are a little overrated. There are plenty of excellent seafood and Thai-style restaurants throughout the city - too many, in fact! I really love the ambience and quality of food served at Leelawadee @ Ramintra, but that's just me.. there must be a million other such places in Bangkok alone!

Wow, where did you get 1,100THB for the medium room? The official website is quoting that same amount for the small room. It looks like a great alternative to the usual haunts (Palazzo; Hip) and I might just try it out the next time I'm there. :)

Understanding Thai English - Part One

Slow day in the office.. so here's a little bit of comedic something I picked up from various sources over the course of my experiences in Thailand. To understand Thai women, you have to understand Thai English first.. and that's only the easy part. :)

I laiiii yewww = I like you

Mai flend yewww = Your friend

Darhhling I slowly today = I'm feeling sluggish (sooo cute when you hear them say it!)

I don't sure = I'm not sure

Him wake up all lady = He woke up already

I dunk = I'm drunk

Hab praw-blerm = I've got a problem / Something's wrong

same same = same

I seeeee-reert = I'm serious (which is ironical because it will always send you into stitches first)

Toooo mud = Too much

Arrrpt toooo yewww (in a musical tone) = Up to you

I go stay here = I'll go back home and stay there

I shit velly mud = I've got a diarrhea

I tell she = I told her

She boxing me = Me and her had a fight

I hab airrr leow = I just installed an air conditioner (not that she just got her head out of a pail full of naam)

Mai brudder hard dick me = My brother just gave me a hard disk

Happy Monday everyone :)

Also, not just Ratchada, Somboon other branches just as expensive if compared to the likes of Nam Sing at Yaowarat. I could get to enjoy the fragrant bbq roe laden big head prawns at half of the price at Nam Sing. Enjoy please also the big plump si hum (cockles) with a bottle of nice cold beer.

Sorry off topic abit, can't help it when come to having some good seafood. Nam sing restaurant is at Phadung dao rd. This resturant is also famed for its bird nests and shark fin soup. My favourite is T & K restaurant also at the Soi Phadung dao. Imho they are the best in seafood in chinatown (i have try quite a few of seafood restaurants already).

Agree. Just that both places are popular with many bros here from these parts. Understandably, not done enough time in bkk to checkout local venues:p

Did Nathong (for those wondering on it's fate recently) 1st time sun night for a samster friend's birthday bash. Live band, with wee too bright lights. But location opp Caribbean with proximity to Ratchada, Param 9 is ideal.

Recall my nameless seafood restaurant near airport... it's called Koh Lun Ta. Bigger area, nicer garden ambience (more of local thai clientele). Best, you could move your whisky next door to their pub:D
