Should be "Thanks guys for the ADVICE.".

"Advise" is a verb.

That's a great recommendation, Indianmagicoil. I've been there a couple of times and the talat just beside the Major Ratchayothin shopping mall (what's the name of that mall?) sells some really upmarket stuff (t-shirts, dresses) that won't cost a fortune. Pretty hip clothes, and very enjoyable night out the last time I was there. :)

Where is Mehang? It sounds like another great little haunt.

Mehang is just next to the open air market (talat). Entry via the main road. The upmarket mall is called Villa Festival Mall or something like that. Save yourself some baht and buy from the street vendors unless your tilak knows her stuff :( 555... forget to add why tiz place is recommended... less likely to bump into someone u know!

Its called "Ratchayothin" coz I think its at the junction of Phaholyothin & Ratchada roads. Anyway I also got it wrong; told taxi driver "Major Phaholyothin" but he brought me to the correct place without further Q's :)

In order of preference when checking fares: The 3 budget airlines, Cathay webby, Swiss Air webby and if have time Mustaffa! Think now Tiger & Jet Star r promoting their fares very aggressively but tink Tiger is cheaper for the moment.

Yup u heard correct. From end 2007 to mid 2008 they had this CX promo. Prices were cheaper (SGD180 all in/return) or similar to budget coz I tend to book my tickets 2 weeks b4 I go. Once was bumped up to 1st Class! F**king shiok man! Pity it was only 2 hours ride :(

Major Cineplex Ratchayothin is along Phahonyothin road..if you took mrt you can alight at Phahon Yothin station, 1 station after Lad Phrao. There's a night market nearby Major Cineplex Ratchayothin.

cheers!

Did similiar CX online with both Zuji and MISA airtravel webby (minus trudging over to travel agent either at Mustaffa or GM). For MISA, only bother is 1 day time lag with prepayment bank transfer after firm booking)
Airfares.com.sg - Online Travel Store - Flights / AirTickets / Hotels / Cruises / Bintan Resorts / Packages /

For CX, you mean bumped up to business class (do not think there's 1st class this sector). Got lucky once to get it on both going and back same outing. On 2 business trips to europe, I deliberately picked thai airways, with stopover in krungthep:p

Spoken like a true LOS vet, sourcing best route;). If I'm not mistaken, Swissair gave up on Singapore routing to Bkk after last year's airport fiasco (I got my money) back for last Nov's aborted trip

Oh damn! LOL usually whenever i see CX flights its always about $300 to $350++

I usually end up taking Thai Airlines more often at a average ticket price of $250++

I'm too slow for SQ promotions as not even 1 day the flights are usually book solid but they tend to have the "Must have 2 to travel" conditions

Bro kain78. I would recommend tigerair if you're on a tight budget. it's just a 2 hours ride, so doesnt matter if it's not that comfortable. And for hotel u can try book from bro tim over here at Bangkok hotels online reservation in Thailand.

hmz but the pricing they posted there is not with air port tax?? right?? so roughly how much am i looking at if i go by tiger air ways??

It really depends on when you book and how far advanced the booking is and if there is a promotion or not.

But usually i see tiger got promotion sometimes cheapest is $100++ with tax and on normal booking about 3 months in advance its $150 to $250 depending

I got mine for abt $120 retn when i went to LOS in May. That was on Tiger. This coming trip, cost about $170 :P But going there on Tiger, coming back on Airasia. Tiger return timing cannot make it. Either too early or way too late.

Bro Indianmagicoil,

Swiss Air stopped flying between BKK to SIN somewhere from April onwards. Do they still market their fares between these 2 locations on their web? I really miss Swiss Air so let me know if you can still book on their website.

I sadly saw Swiss Air in the end, joining all my favourite full-service airlines like Asiana Air (years ago), and in recent years Finnair, SAS & even Turkish withdrew their turnaround flights from BKK to SIN due to low-costs competition. Although CX is still flying this sector, I do not like their timing. Never tried other airlines such as Air India and Bangladesh Air though due to timing constrain.

Full-fare airlines were my favourites as they are usually cheaper than low-cost, in terms of last minute bookings, change dates without penalty + being able to clock mileage. Now-a-days, I have to contend with Tiger, Jetstar & Airasia, even though I am a star alliance gold card holder, on personal trips. But I prefer Airasia due to their Thai crew and cheaper on board food, newer aircraft (A320) and boarding/landing from T1 rather than budget terminal.

I tot it was business too but it was a 747 Jumbo (2nd floor) with individual booths with the works! So got me thinking business class can't be this good! :D

Here's another bit ulu place for you guys .. even though it's very easy to find .. When you face the Asia Hotel, go down the soi just to the right of it. Look to your right, and you'll soon spot one of those drive-in motels, with the curtains to hide the cars. I was hesitating at the gate and a guy beckoned me to come closer. I asked "Tee nee, mee arai?" He answered: "Mee puying, neung pahn baht!" (1000 baht.) "Doo puying, dai mai?" "Dai!"

So we went up to the 2nd floor, past two guys at the top of the stairs, into a little bare room. He called to round up the ladies and they all trooped in for inspection, about 15. Not bad looking aunties. Anyone who's tired of pretty young girls, can go here to bonk a nice auntie.

Like that also can! Or is your "auntie" Bro Playman's standard? ;)
