Outspokesn red general shot and seriously injured

BANGKOK: -- An outspoken red shirt leader Lt Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol is shot and suffers a gun wound on the head on Thursday.

He was reportedly being treated in intensive care unit at Hua Chiew Hospital.

His condition is believed to be serious.

Reports said that he was shot near Sarasin intersection, near Rajprasong rally site where red shirts have been rallying for months.

The incident happened shortly after the government sealed off the roads surrounding the rally site, shut off electricity, cut off water supply and all transportation around the site.

Reporters at the scene reported that they heard what they believed were bomb explosions and gunfires.

Nation television channel reported that an unknown number of people were injured from the explosions and are sent to a nearby hospital.

Yes situation now is bad. Avoid any place even near the protest site tonight.
Given that Seh Saeng is hit, there will be reprisals. So avoid going near police or soldiers. Go around them even if you need to pass them. Otherwise potential to be collateral damage for a M79 round.
