Sometimes they are afraid of having non-chinese customers because they don't want the session to be really awkward. Just imagine if you don't click with the ML and you can't get hard. It's gonna be difficult for both parties. However in my experience, just use Google translate to let them know that you are a non-chinese and that you can speak chinese. I'm sure they'll entertain you if they aren't too busy.
