I'm no MP expert... but my humble opinion is that Ratchada area is your best bet given your transit constraints. Airport commute Ratchada is easy, ard 15-20mins, so no risk of missing out on your connection.
Popular 1s are acclaimed Poseidon (aka Pussydon), Nataree, Amsterdam, Cleopatra, Colonze etc. Utopia's a bit off track for you. Honestly, personal choice kinda subjective as to range/quality. Nataree's looking a bit tatty (my view). Think you could do no wrong popping by Caesars, look see. If not happy, 5 mins cab ride to nearby Poseidon (you could also walk if you are up to it). Just enjoy it as a break between flights and you do alright.
Tell taxi to go Concorde Hotel (next door to Caesars). Dead easy location on main rd opposite Huay Kwang. Caesars on right side of Concorde (facing road), you can't miss the neons. No taxi driver's any wiser as to your neighbourly visit. You could also have a decent non-plane meal + drinks whilst checking out the goods.
Have fun, you could also try a post mortem FR onboard with internet access hehe.
