I have actually given some Doms here in Thailand DVD-rs of Japan SM videos and told them to observe. Whether they can watch and implement is another matter but at least they can see how it is supposed to be done.
Also thanks for that article on the New York club. I have never sessioned in NYC but I heard that it was a much freer and better environment for SM in the 1990's. Then Rudy Guliani became Mayor and cracked down and raided many clubs. Not to mention all the 9/11 BS if that affected it in any way. Pathetic US Puritanism at its finest.
