My friends and I did not start the trip well. We landed on Thursday, whilst waiting for a friend to come in from Bangkok. We got our bearings together within half an hour. One of my friends was so eager to be here as it was the fasting month of Ramadan, not content with 3 beers on the Silkair flight he went looking for a family mart. Bad news for him, Buddhist Lent day was on...our friend coming from Bangkok gave us an earful for not anticipating.
We stayed in Novotel (Patong area), wasn't too impressed but we only need the rooms for sleep, so not a major concerned. We went for what was the highlight of the evening – a seafood dinner. Fresh and tasty, good spread for THB500 each. I must say, transportation was a little more expensive than I thought. THB200 for each nearby commute. Thankfully there was a shuttle service to Jungceylon shopping area.

So we walked around the famed Soi Bangla, it was pathetic. Farangs were drinking diet Coca-Colas. Plenty of police personnel to boot.
