Cheapest Private Hospital for Urology and Cardiology
Dear all,
not sure where post this, but very worried abt my medical condition and just post here. After long period of fever and cough doc detected microscopic blood in urine and also occasional giddiness. Refer to gov hospital urology but have wait very very long. Thought of walking in to any pte hospital, but suddenly got scared of their bill size. I'm sure the doctor will order an CT Scan for blood in urine, but very scared of the cost. Appreciate if any kind soul can advice on the cost of going to pte or the cheapest pte hospital for my condition. Thanks.

Do you have medical insurance? Some cover private hospitals so suggest you check your policy if you have.

Re: Cheapest Private Hospital for Urology and Cardiology
I replied privately to BigCK already but thought I would share some points here that is relevant to everyone.
1. Public hospitals are not necessarily cheaper UNLESS you are referred in by Polyclinic. In which case you are a subsidized patient and your bill will be mostly paid for by the government. The balance can also be paid for by your MediSave. However, being a subsidized patient has it's drawbacks including long waiting times and seeing junior (sometimes VERY JUNIOR) doctors. In other words, if your GP or company doctor refer you to a government hospital, you are considered a full paying private patient and fees can be even more expensive than places like Mt Elizabeth. 2. Check your MediShield especially if you are on an enhanced scheme. Your coverage could be better than what you think. Ask your agent (he earn your commission so better do some work). 3. Dirty trick to get subsidized care - go to A+E. You wait dam long to see a doctor but more likely than not, you either get the scans you need on the spot or your specialist appointment gets brought forward. Of course this places an unnecessary stress on the A+E system and is unfair to people who really need emergency services. But the fact is, many people are already doing it. When I was in A+E at SGH, I see a lot of patients come in for this purpose. |
